Inspired by a few conversations this week with a couple of friends in the homeless community, the idea to create an art show featuring their work smacked my in my heart! I’ve met so many kind souls and talented individuals in the homeless community. I truly believe that when we can shine our light bright and share our gifts that we were given, we are able to live a full life! And if sharing their art can not only inspire creating and generate some income, what a wonderful combo!
SO! With that said, I am currently collecting art supplies and will be making art kits to distribute to the homeless community. If you have any extra art supplies in good working condition and would like to donate to these art kits, you can drop them off at Green Spaces (2590 Walnut Street) between the hours of 9am-5pm, Monday through Friday.
Once I have enough art supplies that I can create art kits, I’ll be hitting the streets distributing to the community.
Also! I want to distribute books and journals too… Reading and writing is so therapeutic!
There are a few ways to get involved:
- Donation of art supplies
- Pens / Pencils
- You know….. arty stuff!
- Journals / notebooks /sketch books
- Books! For reading entertainment
- Donate time and come and hit the streets with me distributing art kits!
- If you have an art space that you would like to donate for the actual art show, AWESOME! Let’s chat about it! Otherwise, I’ll be doing some research and start solidifying a venue. I want to do this late spring / early summer!
